Monk fruit, or ‘luo han guo’ is up to 100 to 300 times sweeter than sugar. It is well known and used in China, and has been used as a sugar substitute there as well as a cure to many different ailments.

The company Layn has created Lovia(tm), which is a mixture of stevia and luo han guo. The combination is less bitter than stevia alone, but with all the benefits of being a sugar replacement.
